solid buy
by TJ|aboutSunday, May 29, 2016
4.0
I bought it in May 2015 and have since done 2 rides and racked up 6k miles on it. I can honestly say it's a solid buy. Comfortable, packed with features, looks amazing. Its fuel economy is "okay", just because it's rated at 27-37 mpg city/highway, but I've averaged 24-26 overall, mostly city/some highway. I love the driver selectable steering, the transmission feels good, you can feel the transmission choppy on occasion, but rarely. Having done these trips, I realized a few things. My passengers and I agree that the back seats aren't comfortable on long drives, they're leather, so I'm not sure that can be said for the cloth seats. Our buttocks and back were pretty sore at the 2 hour mark, stretching at each rest stop was a must, but the two front seats were fine for the ride. The car has a soft touch dash, and I felt that this material should have been spread to the top of the door trims and to the bottom of the dash (ie above the glove box) as these are areas where people will touch. (Would be fine with a pinch of hard plastic) Perhaps this material belongs in there to provide sound insulation? I'm not sure. The a/c compressor broke at 10,000 miles but according to the dealer this doesn't happen with most Elantras, mine was one in a few hundred thousand for this to happen. The towing and service were covered by the warranty. Many trips around California later and this car is still a solid buy. It's not as much fun on the road as my old Honda Fit, but it sure is a lot more comfortable. It is also packed with features and has a large interior volume. When I get out of the car, I always have to look twice because of its amazing styling, both in the front and in the back. It will continue for the next two years.…
Stylish, fun to drive Midsize
Elantra by Arizona DK|aboutFriday, August 16, 2019
(Video) Used 2013 Hyundai Elantra Ocala FL 344745,0
I purchased this vehicle new in June 2013 and it turned out to be an exceptional value on this very stylish midsize mini with exceptional power and handling for a 145 hp vehicle. Now, I've just read at least 50 reviews here and I only have 3 "minor issues" with the car that I'll mention for potential buyers of this year, make and model of car to keep in mind, when looking to buy a great used car. a full stop sign, "most of the time" (I think the anti-lock braking system is causing it) brake chatter, which "makes it hard to apply firmer pedal pressure" and I've had a few close calls for that problem . When you take it for a test drive, try this to see if your prospective used car purchase does this. Granted, please understand, I'm a faster driver than most, I'll admit, but keep that admission a plus for the power this little sports car packs at the top end on the long desert highways here at 115 MPH, so Just like normal city driving! ;) When you "need" to move fast, it moves from 0-60 toot sweet, even when you need to overtake on the highway! The next second minor issue, as noted in another review I read and I have to agree and point out, is that I have no idea why the manufacturer built the passenger seat at least 2-3 inches to the floor. Highly irritating I find it, at 5'10. For someone shorter, I can only imagine how they would feel. Then, when it comes to the surprisingly generously sized interior space, if you're looking to buy this vehicle with the light beige cloth interior, be prepared to have the seats "professionally cleaned" at least once every two years. Another reviewer here mentioned the best cure for this, as I've done it myself in my 3 years of ownership... After professional cleaning, I immediately spray all front and back seats with a heavy dose of Scotchgard! I did and it fixed that minor but annoying issue. Now the positive notes! I am a huge car fan and when I say this car has been fantastic to me, aside from allowing my elderly parents, both in their 80s, to drive it occasionally long distances (Tuson to Denver, and back 830 miles each sense, three summers in a row) We all LOVE the Elantra and have driven it from Phoenix to Tucson about two to three times a month for the past 2 years (about 135 miles each way) and this car runs great and I can't enough de stress Enough about how the car has been quiet and smooth, always! Even when the car is idling it is so smooth and quiet you don't even notice the engine is running! As far as maintenance, since I bought the car, all I've had to do is change the oil, add windshield washer fluid and change the wiper blades, oh yeah I swapped out the factory tires 2 years ago for a great set of "Michelin" tires Performance". What a difference in tire handling alone and I highly recommend doing this. I hope my review helps you make your decision, but as always, take any used car you're considering buying for at least a good 5-10 mile test drive to make sure there are no major issues with the car you buy. Are you considering. . You'd be surprised at the things I've discovered from testing many, many used cars in the past. Oh the only other option I added was that I tinted the windows when I bought the car and with the light gold metallic exterior, the tinted windows make the car look even sportier and help with the strong southwest sunlight from the US United States and even in Florida where the car has also been and returned twice. Enjoy the car, it averages 35 mpg and yes, I've checked it every time I fill it up, so the trip computer is accurate to T ;) One last thing, this is the third Hyundai I've bought. The first was a used 2000 Sonata. and i was very lucky with it (after 3 years i sold it for $500 more than i paid and also bought a new 2015 Sonata which i still own which is also an exceptionally good car. Not a single negative issue... Just think Happy Motorsport~DK~…
Hyundai Elantra GLS 2013 - Solid city car.
by DP|aboutTuesday, April 14, 2020

Bought used in 2015 (old rental car) to save gas on my 85 mile per day commute (42.5 each way for 6 months per year) $10k, 40k miles. It was great. The only repair in 5 years was to fix the steering wheel that started to come loose. Around $300 to replace a $2 part which I read was a common long term repair on these vehicles. Knock on wood, this was the ONLY repair I had to do. I used synthetic oil, followed the maintenance guide and got about 35 mpg overall for that trip, 28 hwy miles, 14 country hwy miles. The only complaint was the front seats. I use my own lumbar cushion (no built-in lumbar, at least in the GLS) and the right-front seat sometimes makes a noise when empty. I would say that Hyundai is almost catching up with Honda and Toyota in terms of reliability. We'll see how the next 85,000 go. Good no frills car.…
